Concept: Industrial Design
Brief:
Mr D and Mr G are a same sex couple who have recently bought a top floor apartment together, in a trendy part of town that showcases theatre and cafe culture. They are renovating on a budget but are keen to transform their living space into a high-tech and modern haven. Given their financial constraints, the couple is seeking to utilise cost-effective materials for the renovation that nonetheless create a high-end aesthetic to impress their affluent circle of friends. The couple like modern gadgetry, are avid users of social media and are passionate about old movies. A seamless integration between the kitchen and living area is necessitated in the small space. A budget of R90,000 has been allocated for the kitchen, excluding expenses related to paint, electrics, soft furnishings, small appliances, structural changes and flooring or tiling.
